Automotive Seat Cost Engineer

Job Summary: This position will work closely with Purchasing, Sales and Engineering to establish seat complete and seat component cost estimates, define purchasing target prices and track product cost.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • • Establish, manage and update materials and process cost tables
  • • Maintain comparative evaluations with cost tables
  • • Support Purchasing on defining target prices for new components
  • • Support Sales on seat complete and seat component cost estimates
  • • Give support to Engineering and Sales on estimating design changes cost impact
  • • Track product cost by establishing a cost matrix by product and keep it up to date
  • • Inform to all involved (Purchasing, engineering and sales) when cost is over the level defined by the company and follow up countermeasures
  • • Establish a regular cost benchmarking activity to compare labor and material costs

  • • Basic accounting skills
  • • Knowledge on cost estimating and integration
  • • Automotive Seating benchmarking experience
  • • Good knowledge on use of computing software
  • • Knowledge in materials and manufacturing process
  • • Organized and caring on details
  • • Communicate; work well with others

  Minimum Requirements of Education, Training, Experience:

  • • 10 + years of experience in cost modeling (Manufacturing seating background a plus).
  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting or equivalent technical experience
  • • Computer Modeling Software, CAD/Catia experience preferred
